Unicorn Lost

J	eanette and Misty headed to the front doors to see what awaited them with Queen Olivia, Jeanette's family, Kamida and Pence behind them.

Passing guards stood aside with a firm grip on their weapons for a lack of clear direction and now lack of leadership. "Did I hear the guard right, King Errol has sent his army here?" Jeanette asked.

"That is what I heard," Misty said, making it clear she knew as much about why the king's army was here as Jeanette.

Jeanette could think of only one reason why the king's army was here, Queen Olivia; but, "Why the ogre's castle? The only reason Stan was here in the first place was because we brought him here."

Without looking in Jeanette's direction, Misty answered, "Not necessarily." Misty did not give a further explanation.

Misty and the party of rescuers approached the front door as they meet up with a group of the ogre's guards. Some of them with Quicksilver in their custody. Beyond them they could see the downpour already letting up and Stan nowhere to be seen. Misty stopped in front of the guards and without a word spoken, stared them down. From behind Misty, another of the ogre's guards came running up and then stopped, looking as though they had lost the war.

From the corner of her eye, Misty saw what was going on, and was now faced with a dilemma. She knew nonverbal diplomacy was required. Grabbing the handle of her walking stick, she gave it a twist and pulled out her sword. She let the base of the walking stick fall to the floor and skillfully handled the sword like an experienced swords-woman that she was. The guards stepped back, letting Misty and her party through. Misty retrieved the base of her walking stick and with a twist, locked the sword back inside the walking staff.

At the entrance of the castle, to her right Misty saw two dragons approaching; to her left the ferret army approached and directly in front of her were the remaining minions. "Mama said there will be days like this."
