"Kathy, are you all right?" Florence asked. "Yes I am," Kathy answered. "The dragon is getting away!" Jeanette exclaimed. "We believe the dragon is heading back to Jeanette's family and Queen Olivia. You need to go there now and take Jeanette with you. The three of us will catch up. Otherwise, we'll just slow you down," Florence said taking charge of the situation. Florence helped Jeanette, with her torch and sword in tow, onto Kathy's back. As Kathy ran up the canyon, the hand which held the torch was stretched out to her side and somewhat elevated as to not get scorched by the flames as the wind passed her. Nearly a half-a-mile later Jeanette could see the Red Dragon sitting there. As they got closer panic gripped Jeanette's heart when she saw her mother and Queen Olivia standing in front of him. Then Rebecca, seeing Kathy and Jeanette heading their direction, ran out to meet them. Quoting Shakespear, Rebecca cried out to her daughter. "Thou shalt not stir a foot to seek a foe." Stopping in front of her mom, Jeanette asked in disbelief. "What?" Rebecca showed her daughter the bracelet. Jeanette got wide-eyed when she saw the bracelet on her mom's wrist and climbed down from Kathy's back. "Now that he's under your control he has to tell you the truth. What has he told you about Dad?" "Darling," Rebecca said taking Jeanette's free paw, in her paw, and pats it with her other one. "I will get to that." |
