"FEAR NOT," the dragon boomed in his voice of rolling thunder. "I WILL NOT HARM YOU. I AM UNDER ORDERS TO BRING YOU BACK ALIVE." "That's comforting," murmured Kathy through clenched teeth. "I AM CHARGED WITH CAPTURING ANY UNICORN I FIND," the dragon went on, as he lumbered awkwardly through the canyon, bracing himself on his thick tail. The morning sun winked and dazzled on the jewel between his horns, which was quite the size of a soup tureen. "THE OGRE WILL REWARD ME FOR BRINGING HIM ANOTHER UNICORN SO SOON! HE SHALL BE QUITE PLEASED AND WILL NOT BEAT ME!" Kathy did not want to speculate on what might happen should the ogre discover that she was but an illusory unicorn. And the concept of an ogre that could beat this dragon nearly made her faint. What had she gotten herself into? |
