T
he little skunk continued to walk toward the town in the distance.  After a while she saw the silhouette of a horse appearing between her and the town.

As she got closer she saw it had a horn on its forehead. "A unicorn!" she giggled softly to herself.  When she was only a few feet away from the unicorn she stopped walking and blinked her little eyes.  "The unicorn is walking but... does not move?" she thought to herself.

The unicorn noticed the little skunk out of the corner of her eye and stopped walking.  She turned her head toward the small skunk girl and smiled. "Hello little one, its nice to see you again. You wouldn't happen to have any chocolate left from the beanstalk, would you?"

The young skunk looked at the blond mane of the unicorn, then into the Unicorn's eyes and saw they were blue, just like that strange... a sudden realisation came to her. "Hyena lady, is that you?"

The unicorn grins, "Yup, one moment you're giggling.  The next you're a little hoarse."  The little skunk squints her eyes at that pun.  The Unicorn rolled her eyes and sighed, "Everyone's a critic."

The little skunk asks, "Why the long face?"

The Unicorn grinned, "because of all those lies."  She blinks her blue eyes at the little skunk, "You know, you're not that bad.  Want to go on a quest where we wrestle dragons, raid their hoards and rescue a few hunks?"

The young skunk looks confused, "A few hunks of what?"

The Unicorn looked at the girl, then smiled. "Just stick with me kid and you'll be fine."  She looked back toward the town and sighed, "It feels like I've been walking for hours here, but I'm not getting a foot closer..." She closed her eyes a little, then looked down towards her legs, "...make that hoof."

The small skunk giggled, "Well, you do not get very far if you're standing still and only stamp your hooves you know."

The Unicorn looked surprised at the little skunk.  But then the little skunk explained what she saw--the unicorn walking but not moving.

The female unicorn thought for a moment, then started to walk in the direction of the town while looking at the little skunk.  Surely enough, the distance between her and the skunk stayed the same.  "O wonderful," the female unicorn said.  "Well, it's better then a treadmill at the gym I guess."  She stopped walking and moved back toward the skunk.  "Any idea what causes this?" she asked the little skunk.

The skunk shook her head, then her tail fluffed up when she suddenly remembered a part of the story her daddy told her!  She concentrated on the town, then started to walk on the spot, stamping her feet on the ground in a walking-like movement.  Surely enough she moved away from the female unicorn and closer toward the town.  Then she turned around and walked back toward the female unicorn and giggled, "That part of the story is correct."  She quickly explained as she saw the questioning look in the female unicorn eyes.  "It's a magical barrier created to keep dumb monsters out, but without harming them.

"Clever," the female unicorn grinned.

"Excuse me?" a voice suddenly spoke from behind them.
