Unicorn Lost

Presents

S	uddenly the hyena's head pops through the clouds, and she catches an astonished breath to see a plain of rainbows stretching away as far as her dazzled eyes can see. Butterflies made from cut jewels waft lazily in the flower-scented air, dancing to strange and beautiful music.

"Whoa," mutters the hyena, tightening her grasp on the toppermost branch, "I must've had too much chocolate!"

A deep cough attracts her attention, and she gasps again, to see a majestic figure reclining on a couch of clouds. The majestic figure gestures her to come nearer, and timidly she approaches.

"You are very brave, little one, to dare to enter into this realm," the majestic figure booms. "I will grant you three wishes--but choose wisely. Sometimes a wish is not what it seems."

The hyena thinks for a while, digging a nervous toe at the diaphanous clouds beneath her feet. Then the looks up. "I would like for my friends to have good fortune all the days of their lives," she says, "and I would like to be able to make people happy--especially those who are frightened, alone, or sad. And I would like to always have the resources to help anyone who needs it." So saying, the hyena bows her head.

The majestic figure eyes her. "For such a greedy little cuss," he chuckles, indicating the chocolate stains on her paws and muzzle, "you certainly chose wisely. I shall grant your wish." With a wave of his hand, the majestic being envelops the hyena in a nimbus of dazzling light.

The hyena feels indescribably dizzy, and falls to the floor. When next she raises her head, there is a strange, unaccustomed weight to it, which seems to unbalance her. She tries to stand, but can only rise to her four paws--which she realizes now are golden cloven hooves!

She has been transformed into--A UNICORN!!!
